Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Speech and Language Therapist to join our team at NHS Professionals Limited in Sheffield. The successful candidate will be based in the Sheffield Teaching Hospitals SLT service, working as a member of the acute team providing a service to individuals with communication and/or swallowing problems.
Main Responsibilities
- To provide a differential diagnosis on clients' communication/swallowing issues based on evidence from assessment and seek advice when necessary.
- To develop clear care plans based on best practice and maintain up-to-date knowledge of specialist skills and techniques.
- To attend relevant training and development opportunities to enhance professional skills and knowledge.
- To develop a working knowledge of relevant procedures, including those related to vulnerable adults and legal frameworks in line with government policy.
- To demonstrate highly developed auditory, perceptual, and analytical skills in the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of patients/clients.
- To assess, develop, and implement Specialist Speech and Language Therapy Treatment to a defined caseload of adult patients with various communication and swallowing disorders.
- To provide advice/training to other professionals, patients, carers, and families regarding the management and care of patients with communication disorders and/or feeding and swallowing difficulties.
- To adapt practice to meet individual patients' circumstances and supervise the work of assistants and volunteers.
