About the Role

We are seeking a talented Computational Services Engineer to join our High-Performance Computing (HPC) Group at AWE Plc.

Job Summary

This exciting opportunity involves providing system administration support for AWE's HPC supercomputers, working as part of a team that manages some of the most powerful supercomputers in the UK. You will be responsible for planning, installing, and commissioning new HPC systems, configuring hardware and software, monitoring performance and reliability, and supporting users.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the planning, installation, and commissioning of new HPC systems
  • Configuration management of HPC platform hardware and software
  • Monitor the performance and the reliability of HPC systems
  • Overses travel to attend conferences and collaborative meetings
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Good experience of deploying and managing Linux-based systems
  • Scripting skills (preferably Python and Bash)
  • Awareness of computer security concepts
  • Ability to work fully on-site
  • Experience of first- and second-line user support

The estimated salary for this role is £60,000 - £80,000 per annum, depending on experience. This is a full-time position, and we offer a 9-day working fortnight, with every other Friday off work, in addition to 270 hours of annual leave.
