Job Summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen to contribute to the cancer research team at The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust, working collaboratively to advance national and international cancer and haematology research studies.

Main Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the recruitment and follow-up of patients in cancer and haematology studies, both academic and industry-sponsored. This will involve identifying, screening, consenting, recruiting, and conducting follow-up with patients into various national clinical studies, as well as entering data onto spreadsheets and data collection forms.

The role will require the ability to work autonomously and as part of a small team, as well as part of the wider multidisciplinary team. The successful candidate will have overall day-to-day responsibility for the delivery of clinical protocols into non-interventional as well as more complex interventional academic and industry studies.

About the Role

The post holder will be line-managed by the Band 7 Team Lead Research Sister but will work closely with Consultants, Registrars, and the wider MDT. The successful candidate will also work closely with the Research and Innovation Team to promote the importance of clinical research across the Trust.

The role will involve attending local Clinical Research Network meetings as well as Investigator meetings. The successful candidate will be provided with training to fulfill the role.

Qualifications & Registration

  • Registered Nurse/AHP
  • Significant post-registration clinical experience in a relevant clinical area
  • Evidence of continuous personal, professional, and academic development

Desirable

  • Accredited NIHR GCP training
  • Evidence of enhanced communication skills
  • Awareness of research being carried out at SATH
