Mobile Caretaker Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Mobile Caretaker to join our Communal Services Team in Central and West London. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring our properties and surrounding areas are clean, tidy, safe, secure, and well-maintained.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct regular cleaning and maintenance tasks, including sweeping external areas, removing litter, and cleaning internal spaces.
  • Report and follow up on communal repairs, ensuring prompt attention to any issues.
  • Inspect play equipment regularly and report any damage or breakages to ensure safety.
  • Participate in site inspections to identify areas for improvement.
  • Provide advice and signpost residents to other services, reporting any support needs to the Housing Services Team.
  • Represent the Estate Services team and Octavia Housing in a positive and professional manner.
  • Ensure all health and safety practices are followed, adhering to Octavia's policies and procedures.
  • Work flexibly across multiple sites as required.
Requirements:

This role is suitable for an individual with a background in cleaning, caretaking, or building management. The successful candidate will have sound knowledge of health and safety practices, including COSHH and Manual Handling. They will be able to deal with resident concerns and complaints, while liaising with contractors.

  • Able to work on call out of hours and deal with emergencies as required.
  • Able to manage and prioritize own work effectively.
  • Ability to carry out basic DIY/maintenance tasks.
  • Able to perform physical tasks on a daily basis.
