Job Summary:
Pertemps TM is seeking an experienced Microbiology Technician to join our team in a leading food manufacturer. As a Microbiology Technician, you will be responsible for delivering microbiological and food quality project programs within a lab environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct routine microbiological analysis of raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished products to ensure compliance with agreed specifications and sampling rates.
- Maintain a high level of health and safety awareness and contribute to the overall health and safety culture within the QA laboratory.
- Ensure adherence to Good Laboratory Practice standards.
- Implement and maintain the Environmental Sampling Program, including sampling and data analysis.
- Perform basic maintenance of laboratory equipment.
- Prepare samples for analysis and associated testing matrices, such as media preparation.
- Accurately and timely report results in SAP or external systems for non-production samples.
- Analyze data, report results, and interpret findings.
- Participate in relevant quality control and proficiency schemes.
- Provide coverage and assistance for other laboratory staff as needed.
- Support the wider manufacturing quality department during plant-based GMP audits and external audits.
Requirements:
- Hold a degree or HND/HNC in a microbiology-related field.
- Practical experience in a microbiology lab environment.
- Practical knowledge of microbiological test methods and apparatus, with a demonstrated ability to apply this knowledge to positively impact laboratory activities.
- A good understanding of GLP principles.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- A proactive approach to tasks and implementation of job role expectations.
- Comfortable working in a lab environment and willing to work in a factory environment if required.
