About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and organized Medical Laboratory Assistant to join our team at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust. As a Medical Laboratory Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting our Biomedical Scientists in Clinical Microbiology.

Key Responsibilities

  • Receiving, sorting, and processing patient specimens for biomedical testing
  • Maintaining accurate records and data entry
  • Providing excellent customer service and communication with clinicians and other healthcare workers
  • Performing general housekeeping duties and maintaining a clean and safe working environment
  • Operating specialist laboratory equipment and performing routine laboratory tests

Requirements

  • GCSE in English and level 3 or equivalent
  • Awareness of National Health Service and the role of Medical Laboratories
  • Awareness of Health and Safety issues
  • Ability to work as part of a team and communicate effectively
  • Keyboard and mouse skills, manual dexterity, and hand-eye coordination
