**Job Title:** Community Palliative Care Specialist
NHS Scotland is seeking a skilled and compassionate Community Palliative Care Specialist to join our team. Located in Ayr, this role offers the opportunity to work closely with patients, their families, and healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality palliative care.
Salary: £60,000 - £80,000 per annum (pro rata)
About the Role:
We are looking for an experienced GP or specialist physician who is passionate about providing exceptional care to patients in their own homes and community settings. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with our multidisciplinary team to develop and implement effective care plans, promoting comfort, dignity, and quality of life for our patients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work directly with patients and their families to assess their needs and develop personalized care plans.
- Collaborate with our community consultant and team to provide specialist palliative care advice.
- Support complex discussions regarding medical care and future care needs.
- Work directly with our multidisciplinary team to support patient care within the hospice inpatient unit.
- Support quality improvement across all hospice settings.
- Support research across all hospice settings.
- Support education of professionals in health and social care internally as well as in primary and secondary care.
Requirements:
- Educated to MBChB level (or equivalent) - Essential.
- Postgraduate Qualification in Palliative Care e.g. PGCert/PG Dip/MSc - Desirable.
- Experience of provision of care in a community setting - Essential.
- Experience of Palliative Care in Clinical Practice - Essential.
- Experience of Multidisciplinary Working - Essential.
- Experience of service development - Desirable.
