About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Ophthalmology Consultant to join our team at The Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust. As a key member of our department, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the development of our services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the provision of General Ophthalmology with a subspecialty interest in Acute eye service or General Ophthalmology or any other subspecialty which complements the department.
  • Delivery of outpatient clinics and day case surgery
  • Workload includes seeing about 12 patients in Face to Face clinic and 24 patients in Virtual clinic. In theatre if Cataract expected to do about 7 Cases.
  • Urgent and Emergency Care duties including out-of-hours on-call; schedules will take due account of the provisions of working time regulations and safe working
  • On-call duties are currently shared with 8 other colleagues on a rota, currently assessed as PA.
Person Specification
  • GMC Registration: Essential
  • Full GMC Registration with licence to practise
  • Inclusion on the GMC Specialist register
  • Qualifications: Essential
  • Medical Degree from recognised medical school
  • FRCOphth / FRCS or equivalent
  • Management Skills: Essential
  • Demonstrates intelligent and analytical approach to problem solving.
  • Good time management.
  • Computer literate
  • Ability to contribute to the development of the Trust and its services.
