About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Ophthalmology Consultant to join our team at The Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust. As a key member of our department, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the development of our services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the provision of General Ophthalmology with a subspecialty interest in Cornea or other complementary subspecialties.
  • Deliver outpatient clinics and day case surgery, ensuring excellent patient outcomes and experience.
  • Participate in Urgent and Emergency Care duties, including out-of-hours on-call, with schedules taking into account working time regulations and safe working practices.
  • Contribute to the development of the Trust and its services, with opportunities for formal teaching responsibilities and departmental leadership roles.
Person Specification
  • GMC Registration: Essential
  • Full GMC Registration with licence to practise
  • Inclusion on the GMC Specialist register
  • Medical Degree from recognised medical school
  • FRCOphth / FRCS or equivalent
  • Wide experience in management of Cornea patients in outpatients, Lasers and theatre
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
  • Ophthalmology fellowship or equivalent experience in Cornea
  • Specific educational interests and evidence of educational ideas or project work
  • Possess good organisational and personal management skills
  • Evidence of personal contributions to service development
  • Awareness of the current UK Healthcare system and the need to develop services in line with current policy
