About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Ophthalmology Consultant to join our team at Mid Yorkshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality care to patients with medical retina and uveitis conditions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the provision of general ophthalmology with a subspecialty interest in medical retina and uveitis
  • Lead the department in research and development
  • Deliver outpatient clinics and day case surgery
  • Manage a workload that includes seeing patients in face-to-face and virtual clinics, as well as performing cataract surgery
  • Contribute to urgent and emergency care duties, including out-of-hours on-call schedules
Person Specification
  • Wide experience in managing medical retina and uveitis patients in outpatients, lasers, and theatre
  • Ophthalmology fellowship or equivalent experience in medical retina and uveitis
  • Specific educational interests and evidence of educational ideas or project work
Qualifications
  • Medical degree from a recognised medical school
  • FRCOphth/FRCS or equivalent
  • Fellowship in medical retina and uveitis
  • Academic prizes, audit, or case presentations
  • Teaching qualification/awards
Management Skills
  • Demonstrates intelligent and analytical approach to problem-solving
  • Good time management
  • Computer literate
  • Ability to contribute to the development of the trust and its services
Registration
  • Please state full GMC number
  • Full GMC registration with a licence to practise
  • Inclusion on the GMC specialist register
