Geriatric Medicine Specialist

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Geriatric Medicine Specialist to join our team at NHS Scotland. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality care to patients with complex medical needs, working closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless transitions of care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide expert medical care to patients with geriatric and stroke-related conditions
  • Collaborate with junior medical staff and multidisciplinary teams to ensure effective care delivery
  • Develop and maintain competencies required to carry out the duties of the post
  • Ensure patients are involved in decisions about their care and respond to their views
  • Contribute to the development of clinical guidelines and protocols

Requirements

  • Full GMC Registration and a license to practice
  • Eligibility for inclusion in the GMC Specialist Register
  • Higher specialist training leading to CCT or within 6 months of confirmed entry from the date of interview
  • Portfolio Pathway (formerly known as CESR - Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration) route doctors are only eligible to apply for a substantive consultant post once it has been awarded

Working Arrangements

The successful candidate will be based at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh, with substantial work done at Midlothian Community Hospital. As part of the role, you may be required to work at any of NHS Scotland's sites.
