About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) to join our team. As an AMHP, you will play a critical role in ensuring the statutory requirements under the Mental Health Act are met, and the rights of service users are upheld.

The successful candidate will have substantial experience working with the Mental Health Act, with a strong understanding of the Mental Capacity Act, European Convention on Human Rights, and related legislation. You will be able to work autonomously and as part of a team, with excellent assessment, risk management, and safeguarding skills.

The role involves evaluating requests for Mental Health Act assessments, making independent judgements while considering various external factors. You will also be responsible for deciding on applications for compulsory hospital admissions and guardianship, as well as handling the process of Mental Health Act assessments.

  • Evaluate requests for Mental Health Act assessments and make independent judgements

Requirements
  • AMHP with current approval to practice under the Mental Health Act and AMHP Regulations 2008
  • Substantial experience working with the Mental Health Act
  • Strong understanding of the Mental Capacity Act, European Convention on Human Rights, and related legislation
