Job Title: General Accounting Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced General Accounting Manager to join our team at Aviva. As a key member of our General Ledger Accounting and Control team, you will play a critical role in the delivery of our general ledger close process, operating the financial control framework, and ensuring high-quality controlled and accurate general ledger fit for onward financial reporting.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage a team of 3, acting in accordance with Aviva's leadership expectations and standards.
  • Run the general ledger close process, ensuring all transactions into the general ledger, manual adjustments, and system feeds are accounted for accurately and within the agreed timetable, operating the appropriate controls and reviewing teamwork.
  • Review the trading result to the UK Health, presenting this to the CFO monthly, working closely with Health Finance Business Partners.
  • Support the key reporting period by providing additional disclosures for group, statutory and solvency reporting, timely reviews of key controls and EUCs, adhering to the minimum standards.
  • Produce and review audit request and the audit deliverables for the team, working closely with the external auditors and the financial reporting teams.
  • Receive and review the outputs of the production of balance sheet reconciliation, working closely with the GL reconciliations team to ensure appropriate review and governance is in place.
Requirements:
  • Strong Excel and analytical skills.
  • Flexible to changing environments and the ability to prioritize workload effectively for both you and the team while maintaining high standards.
  • Excellent communications and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with other areas of the business.
  • Starting salary Circa £50,000 (depending on location, skills, experience, and qualifications)
  • Bonus opportunity - 10% of annual salary. Actual amount depends on your performance and Aviva's.
