Senior General Ledger Accounting Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior General Ledger Accounting Manager to join our General Ledger Accounting and Control team within GI Finance. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading a team of 8 and delivering a high-quality general ledger close, operating the financial control framework, and ensuring accurate and controlled financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities:- Lead a team of 8 and manage the population of all transactions into the general ledger, ensuring appropriate controls and oversight are in place.
- Own and resolve any issues or exceptions reported through the GL close process, understanding the root cause and enhancing the control environment for prevention of similar issues in the future.
- Perform robust reviews of the balance sheets for both Market and legal entities and attend the Balance sheet review meeting to provide comprehensive updates to the Market CFOs.
- Provide technical accounting support and translate accounting concepts into ledger accounting.
- Lead the audit deliverables for the team, working closely with the external auditors and the financial reporting teams.
- Ensure all risk and issues are managed and captured across the team, with timely reviews of key controls and EUCs, adhering to minimum standards and providing updates to relevant stakeholders.
- A qualified accountant (e.g., ACCA, ICAW).
- Strong people leadership skills, with experience in managing a team and developing individuals.
- A proven track record of transforming teams and processes.
- Flexible to changing environments and the ability to prioritize workload effectively for both you and the team, while maintaining high standards.
- Excellent communications and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with other areas of the business.
- Circa £70,000 National / Circa £80,000 London salary (depending on location, skills, experience, and qualifications).
- Bonus opportunity - 12% of annual salary (actual amount depends on performance and Aviva's).
