Senior Financial Analyst

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Accountant to join our Finance Strategy & Operations team at NHS England. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in supporting the delivery of our strategic objectives and ensuring the effective management of our finances.
Key Responsibilities- Provide specialist financial support and guidance to senior leaders across the Programme, ensuring that NHS England lives within its annual budget and delivers value for money.
- Present, interpret, and explain complex and technical financial information and concepts in a clear and concise format, tailoring for finance and non-finance audiences.
- Lead the completion of the Month end management accounts process, including related analysis and portfolio management, and ensure that resource requirements align to the programme's strategy and milestones.
- Actively participate in the development of the Finance Operations team in supporting the delivery of NHS England's strategic objectives, ensuring that our finances are managed appropriately in the short and medium term with robust controls in place to discharge responsibilities and ensure compliance with Managing Public Money and other relevant standards and guidance.
- Deputise for the Financial Controller as required, including at formal governance meetings.

- A minimum of AAT qualified, or CCAB or international equivalent part qualified.
- Demonstrable specialist knowledge in a relevant discipline.
- Experience of monitoring budgets and business planning processes.
- Clear communicator with excellent written and presentation skills; capable of constructing and delivering clear ideas and concepts concisely and accurately to a diverse and varied range of audiences consisting of internal and external stakeholders.
- Demonstrated capabilities to manage own workload and make informed decisions in the absence of required information, working to tight and often changing timescales.
- Numerate and able to understand complex financial issues combined with deep analytical skills.
- Works well with others, is positive and helpful, listens, involves, respects, and learns from the contribution of others.
- Consistently looks to improve what they do, look for successful tried and tested ways of working, and also seeks out innovation.
