Available shifts include Monday to Friday (20 hours: 00:00-20:00), Monday to Friday (15 hours: 06:00-21:00), 7-week rota (30 hours: 14:00-22:00), and 7-week rota (15 hours: 17:00-32:00). Although prior cleaning experience is desirable, full training will be provided for successful applicants. Your responsibilities will involve deep cleaning tasks such as hard floors, fixtures and fittings, and sanitary areas, as well as replenishing disposable commodities and removing waste from all areas.


Key aspects of the job include:

  • Ensuring timely and accurate responses to all cleaning requests.
  • Working in partnership with the Ward Team and Facilities Team Leader/Assistant Facilities Manager.
  • Assisting in monitoring and maintaining cleaning standards and infection control practices in the department.
  • Safely using cleaning equipment and maintaining hard floors.
  • Removing waste and operating extraction machines for carpet/upholstery cleaning.
  • Making up on-call and relatives' overnight stay beds.
  • Using ride-on cleaning equipment and safely handling cleaning agents.
  • Daily decontamination and maintenance of cleaning equipment.
  • Attending training courses and cleansing infected rooms/bays according to NUH Infection Control & Prevention Policy.
  • Liaising with the cleaning services and team leader and ward manager for closure.
  • Providing support and guidance to new starters and demonstrating cleaning procedures.
  • Maintaining focus while using cleaning equipment and undertaking isolation cleansing.
  • Working in accordance with the Trust's Policies and Procedures and descaling baths, toilets, and showerheads.
  • Carrying out specialist cleaning when required with relevant training.
