Job Overview

The successful candidate will be a key member of the Pathology Senior Management & Leadership Team, providing strategic and operational leadership to the Cellular Pathology workforce and services. Working in partnership with the Directorate Management Team, the post holder will promote effective governance and ensure the department delivers the highest standard of service.

Main Responsibilities

The post holder will be responsible for ensuring all clinical and non-clinical performance indicators, targets, and objectives are met in line with national and local standards. This will involve working with the Directorate Management Team to develop, deliver, and translate Divisional and Trust clinical service strategies, corporate objectives, and business plans.

The post holder will also take a lead role in ensuring quality, performance, CIP, and budgetary targets are monitored and improvement plans are devised and implemented where necessary to enable compliance.

Key Skills and Qualifications
  • Master's level education or equivalent experience in Pathology or a related field
  • Recognized professional postgraduate qualification in management or equivalent experience
  • Experience of successful specialty operational management
  • Leadership and management skills, with the ability to translate complex systems and user requirements into robust implementation plans
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills
  • Ability to manage highly complex, sensitive, or contentious information and negotiate with senior stakeholders
