Job Title: Deputy Sister

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Deputy Sister to join our team. As a Deputy Sister, you will be responsible for coordinating shifts on the ward, maintaining relationships with the multidisciplinary team, and managing the ward on a shift basis.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate shifts on the ward, ensuring smooth operations and effective communication with the team.
  • Maintain relationships with the multidisciplinary team, including doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Manage the ward on a shift basis, making decisions and taking actions as necessary to ensure patient care and safety.
  • Deputise for the ward manager in their absence, taking on additional responsibilities and ensuring continuity of care.
  • Attend relevant meetings, such as ward rounds and multidisciplinary team meetings, to stay informed and contribute to decision-making.
  • Develop and implement plans for patient care, taking into account individual needs and preferences.
  • Work with the pre-operative clinic team to ensure seamless transitions and effective care for patients.
  • Collaborate with Patient Advice and Liaison Services (PALS) to address concerns and ensure timely resolution.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Deputy Sister or in a similar role.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse teams.
  • Ability to make decisions and take actions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of patient care and safety protocols, with a focus on quality and excellence.
  • Experience working in a pre-operative clinic environment, with a strong understanding of the challenges and opportunities.
