Consultant in General Surgery

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant General Surgeon to join our dynamic team at North Middlesex University Hospital NHS Trust. This is an exciting opportunity for a senior clinician to contribute to the delivery of high-quality patient care and to play a key role in the development of our Emergency General Surgery service.
Main ResponsibilitiesThe successful candidate will be responsible for providing senior clinician services to both the Emergency Department and the General Surgery Department, as per the job plan or as agreed within the Trust. This will include working with consultant colleagues and nursing staff to ensure efficient use of Trust resources and contributing actively to clinical governance in the department and to the development of quality enhancement projects in the unit.
The appointee will also be expected to provide senior clinician services to an area of special interest, as per the job plan or as agreed within the Trust. This may include working on specific projects or initiatives, such as the development of new clinical guidelines or the implementation of quality improvement initiatives.
In addition, the successful candidate will be expected to show flexibility and undertake different appropriate clinical tasks within allocated DCC sessions at the request of the clinical manager, as the need arises. This may include participating in the Unit's Teaching Programme and undertaking supervision, teaching and training of medical trainees and other multi-professional staff, in line with guidance from the relevant Royal Colleges or specialty bodies.

Person SpecificationThe successful candidate will have a strong background in Emergency General Surgery and will be able to demonstrate a high level of clinical expertise and leadership skills. They will also have a strong commitment to teaching and training and will be able to demonstrate a high level of enthusiasm and motivation for this aspect of the role.
The appointee will be expected to have a strong understanding of the Trust's values and will be able to demonstrate a high level of commitment to delivering excellent patient care and to contributing to the development of our Emergency General Surgery service.
