Consultant in General Surgery

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant General Surgeon to join our dynamic team at North Middlesex University Hospital NHS Trust. This is an exciting opportunity for a senior clinician to contribute to the delivery of high-quality patient care and to play a key role in the development of our General Surgery Department.
Main ResponsibilitiesThe successful candidate will be responsible for providing senior clinician services to both the Emergency Department and the General Surgery Department, as per the job plan or as agreed within the Trust. This will include working with consultant colleagues and nursing staff to ensure efficient use of Trust resources and contributing actively to clinical governance in the department.
The appointee will also be expected to provide senior clinician services to an area of special interest, as per the job plan or as agreed within the Trust. This may include working on quality enhancement projects and contributing to the development of clinical guidelines.
In addition, the successful candidate will be required to show flexibility and undertake different appropriate clinical tasks within allocated DCC sessions at the request of the clinical manager. They will also be expected to actively participate in the Unit's Teaching Programme and undertake supervision, teaching and training of medical trainees and other multi-professional staff.

Person SpecificationThe ideal candidate will have a strong background in Emergency General Surgery and will be experienced in emergency general laparoscopic surgery, including hot gallbladder surgery and colorectal surgery. They will also have JAG accreditation in Colonoscopy with advanced endoscopy techniques.
Leadership and management qualifications are desirable, as is a postgraduate degree or MSc in a relevant specialty. The successful candidate will also need to have a strong track record of leadership and management experience, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
