Job Overview

Barts Health NHS Trust is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant in General Surgery to join our team. As a key member of our surgical department, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care and contributing to the development of our emergency general surgery strategy.

Main Duties

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Providing expert surgical care to patients in the emergency department
  • Developing and implementing effective treatment plans for patients with complex general surgical conditions
  • Collaborating with other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless patient care
  • Participating in medical audits and quality improvement initiatives
  • Contributing to the teaching and assessment of junior doctors and medical students
Person Specification

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Membership of the GMC Specialist Register or equivalent
  • Proven experience in emergency general surgery
  • Strong knowledge of general surgery principles and practices
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
