SEMH Teaching Assistant (Primary)

GSL Education is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a fantastic primary school in Cramlington. As a SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will be working closely with children who require additional support in managing their emotions, behaviour, and learning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students with SEMH needs in a primary school setting.
  • Work 1:1 and in small groups to aid learning and development.
  • Help create a safe and nurturing environment for students.
  • Collaborate with teachers and other staff to implement behaviour strategies.
  • Support with classroom management and ensure students stay on task.
  • Monitor progress and provide feedback to teachers and parents.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children with SEMH needs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to stay calm and patient in challenging situations.
  • A commitment to helping students achieve their full potential.
  • An enhanced DBS registered on the update service (or willingness to apply).
