Job Title: Lead Java Developer Agile

As a Lead Java Developer Agile, you will play a key role in delivering a new messaging platform called the Integration Hub, leveraging emerging healthcare technologies, standards, clinical data stores, web services, and contributing to the development of the next wave of digital platforms in the NHS.

You will work as part of a well-structured Scrum team, under the guidance of experienced team leads, taking responsibility for delivering individual software components. You will work towards a previously built design solution and be expected to take the lead in the development, ensuring it is rigorously tested and documented in accordance with industry best practices. Additionally, you will be involved in exploring options and developing solutions for the integration of legacy system elements.

Key Skills:
  • Java, Jakarta EE
  • Object-oriented programming
  • System architecture design for high-performance and scalable integration (based on microservices)
  • Multithreading & performance, Observability & Monitoring
  • Enterprise Service Bus (WSO2, JCAPs, Fiorano, Biztalk, IBM Websphere)
  • Web Services (inc. API), along with XML, XSLT, .Net and SQL, SOAP, REST
  • Containerised applications, using Docker, Kubernetes
  • Observability and monitoring tools
  • CI/CD and DevOps tools
  • Agile methodology and SDLC
Desirable Skills:
  • Apache Camel
  • HL7 v 2.x and FHIR messaging standards
  • Knowledge of High Availability solutions, such as Mirroring, Replication, Clustering, and Always On (Availability Groups)
  • Modelling tools and languages such as Enterprise Architect / UML
  • Expert understanding of OOP, unit testing, software design patterns, SOLID principles and TDD
