Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Fire Design Specialist to join our team at Protec Fire Detection PLC. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing fire alarm systems in accordance with British Standard 5839.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and Development: Design fire alarm systems, produce accurate quotations, and layout design and configuration of fire sensors and associated equipment.
  • Collaboration and Coordination: Coordinate layout of equipment with other M&E services and architectural/structural features, and liaise with Sales Manager/Sales Engineers throughout the design process.
  • Quality Assurance: Internal checking of design drawings and preparation of design documentation ready for commissioning.
  • System Architecture: Develop system schematic diagrams and ensure compliance with British Standards.

Candidates shall be able to demonstrate the necessary qualifications, experience, skills, and traits to meet the requirements set below. Requirements for the role shall be evidenced on the application form and in the interview process.

Qualifications

Essential:

  • A full Electrical based qualification such as City & Guilds, ONC, HNC etc.
Experience

Essential:

  • Working knowledge of current British Standards.

Desirable:

  • Experience within a similar role on large multi-service projects.
  • Experience of system installation.
Skills / Abilities

Essential:

  • Ability to produce and read technical drawings and specifications.
  • An excellent eye for detail.
  • Ability to work with a variety of contractors, architects and other personnel.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
  • Creative thinking with the ability to see and implement practical solutions.
  • Proficient using Microsoft computer packages Including Excel, Word, Access and Outlook.

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of Bluebeam software.
