Trust Fire Safety Manager

Job Summary
The Trust Fire Safety Manager is responsible for the delivery of fire safety services across University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust's sites, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and statutory obligations.
Main Duties
- Develop and implement fire safety management strategies, policies, and procedures.
- Conduct fire risk assessments, ensuring compliance with Building Regulations, HTM guidance, and British Standards.
- Manage fire safety equipment maintenance, testing, and inspection programs.
- Collaborate with internal departments and external partners to ensure fire safety implications are considered in service reconfiguration schemes.
- Provide technical guidance and support to staff on fire safety matters, including training and awareness programs.
About the Role
This is a senior leadership position within the Estates and Facilities department, requiring a strong understanding of fire safety regulations, risk management, and technical expertise.
Person Specification
Essential
- Level 5 Diploma in Fire Safety and Risk Management.
- Significant experience in a technical fire safety role, with a strong element of achieving statutory compliance.
- Knowledge of statutory requirements, including the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order, Building Regulations, and Health and Safety at work.
- Experience at a senior level in the management of fire safety in a complex organization.
Desirable
- City and Guilds in Delivering Learning or PTTLLS.
- IOSH, NEBOSH, or ROSPA Qualification in accident/incident investigation.
- Relevant industry qualification, such as IFE, FPA, FIA, or BRE.
