Job Title: 2nd Assistant Director

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented 2nd Assistant Director to join our team at BBC Studios Drama Productions. As a key member of our production team, you will be responsible for coordinating the daily activities of the production, ensuring that all aspects of the shoot are running smoothly and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan and organize the daily callsheets, ensuring that all departments are aware of the latest schedule and timings.
  • Break down scripts and run budgets to employ supporting artists, ensuring that the background of various sets and locations is creatively composed.
  • Identify and communicate potential issues that may arise during filming, and work with the relevant departments to resolve them.
  • Facilitate post-production requirements, working closely with the shooting schedules and artist availability.
  • Ensure that the shooting schedule is understood by the cast and guest artists, and relay essential information to them.
Requirements:
  • Experience as a 2nd Assistant Director or 3rd Assistant Director, or a Stage Manager from theatre.
  • A developed knowledge of television or stage production, and an understanding of the roles of production personnel.
  • Experience working within a production or theatre team, facilitating efficient group dynamics.
  • Awareness of BBC Health and Safety Regulations and BBC Values.
  • Proven ability to work with a range of people, and examples of mediating between polarizing demands and departments.
  • The ability to meet deadlines, while working across a range of tasks at different stages of completion.
  • The ability to adapt to changing circumstances, and examples of when you have had to adjust to new situations quickly and efficiently.
  • Demonstrable proficiency with computers, especially Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Knowledge and passion for Continuing Dramas, especially Casualty.
