This role is part of the UKAEA Special Techniques Group, which focuses on developing and implementing innovative solutions for fusion diagnostics and control systems. As an Engineering Department Manager, you will play a critical role in driving this mission forward.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of electro-mechanical diagnostic specialists in analyzing plasma for both UK and international fusion machines.
  • Implement techniques, methods, and processes to improve quality and delivery, while promoting a positive can-do attitude within the team.
  • Provide clear and positive leadership, encouraging effective team working, fostering knowledge sharing, and supporting the technical development of staff.
  • Develop and deliver commercial opportunities related to the DFE group's capabilities and product line.

Requirements:

  • Proven leadership experience through a track record of success in team and project management of engineer/technology work.
  • Experience of line management of technical teams (scientific, engineering, technology etc).
  • Degree or equivalent experience in relevant Engineering field, e.g. mechanical engineering, precision engineering.
  • Ability to communicate with technical and non-technical people, working with and interfacing with projects, internal and external customers.
  • Experience of delivering key engineering/technology milestones within agreed time frame.

Salary: £67,023 (inclusive of MPP) + excellent benefits
