About the Opportunity
At Diamond Light Source, we are seeking a highly skilled Beamline Scientist to take the lead on the development of our quantum materials imaging endstation. This is an exciting opportunity to join our team of experts and contribute to cutting-edge research in the field of coherent imaging.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, prototype, construct, commission, and optimize the endstation to support high-quality research in quantum materials.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to drive the development of both hardware and software, requiring excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Develop an internationally competitive research program, leading your own research and taking advantage of the unique capabilities of the beamline.
- Participate in in-house research programs on the beamline and contribute to the maintenance, development, and upgrades of the beamline and endstations.
- Provide user support by assisting visiting scientists in carrying out a wide range of experiments.
About You
We are looking for a candidate with a strong background in science or engineering, a PhD, and relevant experience in a scientific field relevant to the post. You should have experience and knowledge in the areas of quantum or functional materials, synchrotron measurements, and experimental skills.
Applications with an active research program in imaging quantum materials or a related field are encouraged. The research program should include experience with in-situ sample environments, experimental setup, data analysis, and interpretation.
