Adjunct Faculty Member

The Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking a highly qualified Adjunct Faculty Member to join our team at the School of Social Work. As an Adjunct Faculty Member, you will be responsible for teaching undergraduate (BSW) courses in the areas of Field Education, Practice, Human Behavior, Policy, and Research.
Key Responsibilities- Teach undergraduate (BSW) courses in the areas of Field Education, Practice, Human Behavior, Policy, and Research.
- Develop and maintain an academic professional course environment that supports the preparation and ethical standards required of generalist social work practitioners.
- Meet all classes and post and adhere to office hours.
- Prepare course syllabi following university guidelines for syllabi formatting.
- Submit syllabi according to university guidelines and distribute to students via Blackboard or in handout format on the first day of class.
- Consistently follow the course syllabi in assigned classes.
- Develop and assess measurable learning outcomes for courses taught, ensuring curriculum coherence and alignment.
- Promote student development and academic achievement through tutoring, mentoring, referrals, support, and engagement in curricular activities and service learning.
- Maintain student grade/course records, respecting FERPA and other privacy standards consistent with agency and program accreditation standards.
- Participate in curriculum review and revision, program effectiveness, and in monthly faculty meetings.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Must possess a Master's degree in Social Work and a Social Work license is preferred.
- Demonstrated substantive experience in teaching and/or supervising social work practice methods.
- Demonstrated knowledge of educational methods and theories.
- Skill in the use of technology, software, and resources to assist and aid in the delivery of course content.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, and convey matters to large diverse audiences (students/staff/faculty).
- Considerable experience, generally equating to more than three years of professional full-time teaching in core curriculum areas in an accredited School of Social Work at the graduate level.
