Support Worker

Black Country Job Support is seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Support Worker to join our Community Mental Health Team. As a Support Worker, you will play a vital role in promoting social inclusion and access for service users in recovery from mental health difficulties.
Main ResponsibilitiesKey responsibilities of the Support Worker include:
- Working as part of a team to promote social inclusion and access for service users in recovery from mental health difficulties.
- Providing support and giving time to an allocated group of service users with complex needs to promote their recovery and maintain them in their community environment.
- Assisting care coordinators to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individual care plans.
- Developing skills in therapeutic interventions and working with partner agencies to support service users' care.
- Providing safe, sound, and supportive services, with regular supervision and opportunities to develop clinical and professional practice in line with service user needs and organisational values.

Person SpecificationThe ideal candidate will possess:
- Good general education to GCSE level or equivalent.
- Evidence of training or development.
- Good IT skills.
- Effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Ability to support service users with severe mental health needs to promote their own recovery.
- Ability to engage service users and work at a pace that will support their recovery in a community setting.
- Ability to provide practical support with activities of daily living essentials.
- A keenness to make a positive contribution and identify solutions to help empower service users.
- Working in partnership with other agencies.
- Ability to plan and facilitate group work.
- Ability to take responsibility for own work planning.
- Working with and understanding of mental health illnesses and early warning signs of relapse.
- Understanding of risk assessment and risk management.
- Demonstrating an understanding of clinical governance issues.
- Working within a multi-disciplinary team.
- Ability to work independently and use own initiative.
- Demonstrating professionalism, including time-keeping, attitude, and values.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to acknowledge diversity and promote anti-discriminatory practices and equal opportunities.
- Ability to respond in a professional manner to challenging behaviors.
- Ability to travel to numerous community settings around the Trust geographical area in a timely and effective manner.
