Senior Commercial Manager - UK Rail Business Unit

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Commercial Manager to join our UK Rail business unit. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the commercial function and driving business growth through effective commercial management and risk mitigation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Commercial Leadership
    • Liaise with clients, stakeholders, and internal teams to ensure effective commercial management and risk mitigation.
    • Develop and implement commercial strategies to drive business growth and improve profitability.
    • Manage and maintain relationships with key clients and stakeholders.
  • Work Winning
    • Identify and negotiate commercial opportunities with clients and stakeholders.
    • Develop and implement tender strategies to secure new business.
    • Manage and mitigate commercial risks associated with new business.
  • Project Delivery
    • Manage and deliver commercial aspects of projects, including cost management and risk mitigation.
    • Develop and implement project commercial strategies to ensure successful project delivery.
    • Manage and maintain relationships with project stakeholders.
  • Reporting and Analysis
    • Develop and implement reporting and analysis tools to support commercial decision-making.
    • Provide regular commercial updates to stakeholders.
    • Identify and analyze commercial trends and opportunities.
  • Risk Management
    • Identify and mitigate commercial risks associated with projects and business operations.
    • Develop and implement risk management strategies to ensure successful project delivery.
    • Manage and maintain relationships with risk stakeholders.
  • People Management
    • Lead and manage a team of commercial professionals.
    • Develop and implement training and development programs to support team growth and development.
    • Manage and maintain relationships with team members and stakeholders.
    Requirements
    • Qualifications
      • Membership of a professional institution, such as the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) or the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).
    • Experience
      • Proven experience in commercial management and leadership.
      • Experience in the construction or rail industry.
    • Skills
      • Strong commercial acumen and analytical skills.
      • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
      • Ability to lead and manage a team of commercial professionals.
