Job Summary

The Infrastructure Operations Engineer will work in a team delivering projects and BAU work, providing 3rd line support for infrastructure and the business. Take the lead in projects and proactively work on BAU issues and incidents, with the ability to work autonomously when required but also be a team player.

Main Responsibilities

  • Work on cross-team projects delivering improvements and enhancements to the estate.
  • Take the lead on projects ensuring timely delivery, working closely with project managers and cross teams.
  • Create and update documentation where appropriate.
  • Work on 3rd level support issues and incidents, taking the lead on critical issues and incidents affecting the business and the infrastructure.
  • Upskill other members of the team.
  • Have a can-do attitude, working in an agile way and adapting to changing needs as required.
  • Be the SME and go-to person for some of our critical technologies.
  • Work closely with other teams supporting them when needed and forging relationships cross-department.
  • Take part in 24/7 on-call and early cover as part of a rota.
  • Work with technologies including Azure, VMware, Veeam, Zerto, BeyondTrust, Nimble and StoreOnce Storage, Microsoft core stack, Citrix, and Netscalers.
  • Proactively keep on top of emerging technologies and trends in infrastructure and IT.
  • Be a team player.
  • Suggest and contribute to ways of improving existing tasks and processes using current technology to support a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Provide input into design and projects, driving improvements within the team and the business.
  • Have good Azure infrastructure experience helping us make that transition to the cloud.
  • Work in a fast-paced global environment, supporting our infrastructure in our primary DC, at our satellite sites, and in the cloud.

Our Ideal Candidate

We are seeking a dynamic individual to join the infrastructure operations team. Someone who can work autonomously on their own but also as part of the immediate infrastructure team and part of the wider GTS team. The ability to take on and own major incidents and issues and owning these to conclusion. Having worked with a number of our own and wider technologies, knowledge share through the team.
