About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Nursery Practitioner to join our team at First Steps Nursery, a purpose-built NHS nursery for staff working for East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality childcare and education to children aged 4 months to 8 years.
Main Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Assisting the management team in providing a safe, caring, and stimulating environment for children.
- Planning and executing educational activities for children, maintaining child-to-staff ratios, and working within and following Ofsted and Trust procedures and policies.
- Providing play opportunities and interacting positively with children, while also communicating effectively with parents and carers.
- Assisting in setting out rooms with toys and arranging furniture to enable children to access them.
- Working within the framework of the nursery's behaviour management procedures when needed to discipline children.

Person Specification
The successful candidate will need to hold a minimum NVQ level 2 in Childcare and Education (or equivalent) and have had some work experience with children under the age of 5 years. The successful candidate will also need to demonstrate a good knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage, be an effective communicator, and show flexibility in working hours during a week.
