Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Lead Occupational Therapist to join our team at Capture HealthCare Ltd. As a Lead Occupational Therapist, you will be responsible for leading the Occupational Therapy team in providing high-quality care to patients with neurological injuries and illnesses.

Key Responsibilities
  • **Day-to-Day Operations:** Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Occupational Therapy department, ensuring that all patients receive timely and effective occupational therapy treatment and discharge planning.
  • **Clinical Expertise:** Work as an autonomous practitioner in providing comprehensive assessments of patients with neurological injuries and illnesses, developing agreed problem lists and holistic treatment plans.
  • **Quality and Efficiency:** Oversee the quality and efficiency of the OT team's clinical resources, providing support to less experienced OTs.
  • **Clinical Caseload:** Hold your own designated clinical caseload of patients and maintain up-to-date professional documentation according to professional and departmental standards.
  • **Discharge Planning:** Assess and monitor patients effectively to progress them through their rehabilitation, providing optimal chances of recovery and retrieval of physical and cognitive function.
  • **Multidisciplinary Teamwork:** Act as a key worker for patients in the Care and Rehabilitation Centre, coordinating safe, smooth, and timely discharge, liaising with all personnel as appropriate.
  • **Occupational Therapy Interventions:** Offer a wide range of occupational therapy interventions and approaches to patients, demonstrating knowledge and skills in the delivery of FES, splinting, complex posture and seating requirements, and upper limb management.
  • **Multidisciplinary Meetings:** Participate in various MDT clinical meetings, sharing expert OT opinion to support the patient's rehabilitation journey.
  • **Clinical Effectiveness:** Demonstrate clinical effectiveness and change through intervention, setting discipline-specific and wider MDT goals, and completing clinically relevant outcome measures.
  • **Reporting:** Complete required reports for discharge or funding purposes.
  • **Home and Discharge Visits:** Carry out necessary home and discharge visits for patients, ensuring safety for all team members and monitoring lone working.
  • **Equipment Prescription:** Identify and prescribe equipment and specialist equipment for patients presenting with neurological conditions.
  • **Service Development:** Explore and promote options for Occupational Therapy Service development, working alongside other senior occupational therapists and the wider team to implement and monitor proposed changes in occupational therapy practice.
Requirements
  • **Qualifications:** Bachelor's or Master's degree in Occupational Therapy.
  • **Experience:** Minimum 2 years of experience as an Occupational Therapist, preferably in a neurological rehabilitation setting.
  • **Skills:** Advanced clinical reasoning skills, knowledge of evidence-based practice, current NICE guidelines, and clinical expertise.
  • **Certifications:** Relevant certifications, such as FES or splinting.
