An exciting opportunity for an Experienced OT Team Lead has arisen at the QEF Care and Rehabilitation Centre to makean impact on the lives of people following acquired brain injury, traumaticbrain injury, incomplete spinal injury or for those living with otherneurological conditions, including support to small number of clients requiring rehabilitation. We also offer outpatients.
You will lead andsupport the OT team to deliver clinical excellence and highquality occupational therapy in service, within a well establishedmulti-disciplinary team.
Working as partof the strong MDT, you will lead on embedding evidence based practice withinthe OT team. Innovative practice is encouraged to maximize our clients timewithin the rehabilitation unit, promoting an enabling approach, withcomprehensive discharge planning, working with our admissions and discharge coordinatorand the community therapy teams. MDT working is essential in this role so youmust have a full understanding and appreciation of other disciplines as well asexcellent communication skills. Abackground of junior staff supervision and teaching is required.

Main duties of the job
To effectively lead the QEF CRC Occupational Therapy team nurturing a culture that is inclusive, supportive, professional and progressive in its ambitions to deliver high quality, safe and person centered care.
To work as an autonomous practitioner in providing comprehensive assessments of clients who have had a neurological injury, illness and impairments including those with complex presentations and develop agreed problem lists and holistic treatment plans.
Use advanced clinical reasoning skills, knowledge of evidence-based practice, current NICE guidelines and clinical expertise to determine appropriate rehabilitation programs and discharge / continuing care plans.
To oversee the quality and efficiency of the OT teams
To hold your own designated clinical caseload of clients
To assess and monitor clients effectively so to progress them through their rehabilitation providing optimal chance of recovery and retrieval of physical and cognitive function.
To act as a key worker for clients in the Care and Rehabilitation Centre, appropriately coordinating a safe, smooth and timely discharge, liaising with all personnels as appropriate.
To be able to confidently and competently offer a wide range of Occupational therapy interventions and approaches to your clients in the Care and Rehabilitation Centre, demonstrating knowledge and skills in the delivery of FES, splinting, complex posture and seating requirements and upper limb management.

Job responsibilities
To provide comprehensive and complex Occupational Therapy assessment and treatment plans which are evidence-based against validated outcome measures and aligned to the aspirations of the client in maximising functional independence.
To provide clinical leadership, supervision and performance review of staff in accordance with HR policies and guidance for the provision of evidence-based effective Occupational Therapy for all clients.
To facilitate and deliver plans on the future placement and support needs of each client as part of the multi-disciplinary team.
Support the Head of Therapies in ensuring that all Occupational Therapy is delivered effectively and efficiently for all clients as part of the inter-disciplinary rehabilitation team.
Undertake all aspects of Occupational Therapy assessment and intervention as required including home visits and functional rehabilitation at home when appropriate.
Ensure self and other Occupational Therapists meet the HCPC Standards of Proficiency for Occupational Therapists and Standards of Conduct, Performance and Ethics.
Ensure self and other Occupational Therapy department staff meet the standards and guidance provided by the Royal College of Occupational Therapy including that for record keeping.
Promote a 24-hour approach to rehabilitation in conjunction with other therapists, working across all disciplines (therapy and care staff) for the benefit of all clients
Meet deadlines as required for the needs of the clients and the provision of an efficient service for funding agencies including; time-sensitive intervention, report writing, attending meetings, data provision.
Undertake role as Key worker for selected clients
Supervise and take responsibility for clients whilst out in the community.
Provide training sessions for staff in the Neuro Rehabilitation Service as required within scope of practice
Take responsibility for the facilities and equipment related to the provision of Occupational Therapy including the treatment rooms, store areas and training kitchen - general maintenance, decor and all equipment kept and used in these locations, maintaining up to date inventories of all stock and equipment.
Ensuring repairs are carried out and Health & Safety standards are adhered to.
Comply with all Human Resources policies and ensure supervisees comply with existing and up-dated working practices and policies.
To seek and resolve difficulties and issues arising for individual clients in the acquisition and development of skills, abilities and attitudes to achieve.
