Supporting Young People with Special Educational Needs

Protocol Education is proud to be recruiting on behalf of St Philip's School, a dedicated Special Educational Needs (SEN) school in the Chessington area. This is an excellent opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young people aged 9-19 with a variety of additional needs.

The school provides tailored education and support for students with EHCPs, addressing a range of needs including mild to moderate Autism Spectrum Disorders, language impairments, and emotional challenges.

About the Provision:

  • Class sizes are kept small to ensure focused and supportive learning, allowing students to reach their full potential.
  • We emphasize independence, incorporating life skills, travel training, and work experience into the curriculum to prepare students for adulthood.
  • Enrichment opportunities include residential trips, after-school clubs, and a broad selection of subject options to cater to diverse interests.
  • A comprehensive emotional support system is in place, offering access to counselling, Play Therapy, and Dramatherapy to address mental health needs.

The Role

We are seeking a proactive and compassionate individual to join our team immediately as a Full-Time SEN Support Professional.

  • This role involves supporting students in Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4, and Post-16, providing classroom support to help them access the curriculum and develop essential life skills.
  • You will collaborate with teachers and the school's well-being team to ensure the academic, social, and emotional progress of each student.

Requirements

  • A valid enhanced DBS certificate for both child and adult workforce is required; you can either have one or be willing to obtain it.
  • Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN is highly desirable but not essential.
  • You must demonstrate initiative, adaptability, and a proactive approach in a dynamic school environment.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills are necessary for success in this role.

Salary and Benefits

This SEN Support Professional position comes with a competitive daily rate of £90-£95 and the opportunity for ongoing professional development through Protocol Education.

In addition to the salary, you will receive SEN training on site and the chance to go permanent if suitable positions become available.

Ongoing professional development opportunities and the chance to make a significant impact in a supportive and inspiring school community make this role an attractive option for those passionate about supporting young people with SEN.
