Autism Teaching Assistant Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Autism Teaching Assistant to join our team at a brand-new secondary school in South East London. As an Autism Specialist, you will provide individualized support to students aged 11-16 with mild to severe behavioral challenges.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver 1-1 support to students with autism, promoting positive reinforcement strategies and behavior de-escalation methods.
  • Establish strong relationships with students, demonstrating patience, empathy, and understanding.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other professionals to ensure effective support and communication.
  • Utilize behavior management techniques and strategies to promote student engagement and learning.
Requirements:
  • Experience working with students with behavioral challenges in an educational or special education setting.
  • Knowledge of behavior management techniques, positive reinforcement strategies, and de-escalation methods.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to remain calm and composed in challenging situations.
  • Valid DBS certificate on the update service (or willingness to obtain one).
