About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Volunteer Coordinator to join our Rehoming & Fostering team in Hertfordshire. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in fostering a supportive and engaging environment for our volunteers, ensuring they are empowered to make a meaningful impact in the lives of pets in our care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Recruit, engage, and support a diverse team of volunteers, promoting the benefits of volunteering and raising awareness of our centre and Blue Cross.
  • Work closely with Centre Managers and Assistant Managers to ensure volunteers are fully integrated into the team, fostering a collaborative and welcoming environment.
  • Build relationships with local communities and partners, promoting the benefits of volunteering and providing targeted support.
  • Develop and implement effective recruitment strategies, managing a bank of volunteers and ensuring they have the right opportunities to thrive in their roles.
  • Provide guidance, advice, and support to volunteers, dealing with situations as they arise and offering pragmatic solutions.
Requirements
  • Demonstrable experience of supervising or managing volunteers, with a proven track record of success.
  • Good experience of running recruitment campaigns, with a focus on engaging and retaining volunteers.
  • Experience of working with local communities, promoting the benefits of volunteering and raising awareness of our centre and Blue Cross.
  • High standards of verbal and written communication, with the ability to actively promote the work of Blue Cross and the benefits of volunteering.
  • Previous experience in a client-focused environment, delivering high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • IT literacy, with proficiency in MS Office and web-based databases and platforms.
  • Awareness of health and safety legislation, with a commitment to ensuring a safe and healthy working environment.
  • Current full driving licence, with the ability to travel as required.
