Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Finance and Accounting Lead to provide comprehensive financial management services to our organisation. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, processing payments, and preparing financial reports. They will also be responsible for developing and managing annual and project-specific budgets, preparing and compiling comprehensive donor financial reports, and leading internal and external audits.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Planning and Budgeting: Develop and manage annual and project-specific budgets, ensuring timely submission of information to the Executive Director. Prepare and compile comprehensive donor financial reports, coordinating with the Executive Director for verification, approval, and submission.
  • Accounting Responsibilities: Maintain QuickBooks, ensure accurate day-to-day bookkeeping, track income and expenses, process payments, reconcile accounts and credit cards, administer payroll and pensions, and lead internal and external audits.
  • Operations: Strengthen and maintain financial systems, identify and propose process enhancements to improve overall operational efficiency, prepare and present quarterly financial reports to the Board of Trustees, and submit RTI to HMRC on time.

Person Specification:

  • Qualifications: Professional accountancy qualification e.g. ICAEW, ACCA, CIPFA, CIMA (open to alternative qualifications in accountancy or those who are studying towards a qualification and have suitable supplementary experience).
  • Knowledge & Experience: Previous experience in NGOs or organisations being funded primarily through grant-funding, knowledge of budgeting and reporting processes, audit preparation experience, and experience in presenting financial information clearly to a wide range of audiences.
  • Skills & Abilities: Good interpersonal skills with colleagues, funders, partner organisations and other stakeholders, ability to work to deadlines with a high-level of accuracy, ability to think and act strategically, ability to respect and understand the importance of confidentiality, ability to analyse data and implement appropriate strategies to promote improvements and raise standards.

Salary: £58,000 per annum, depending on experience.
