Job Title: Mental Health Solicitor

About the Role:

This exciting opportunity has arisen for a qualified Mental Health Solicitor to join our client's specialist firm of solicitors, with offices across the UK.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Meet LAA Supervisor Requirements: Ensure compliance with the Mental Health legal aid contract by meeting the necessary supervisor requirements.
  2. Handle Mental Health Casework: Represent clients in tribunals and handle a range of mental health cases, including s.117 aftercare issues.
  3. Work Independently and Collaboratively: Develop and implement compliant processes, procedures, and precedents while working effectively within a team.
  4. Self-Supervise Effectively: Demonstrate ability to self-supervise and manage your workload efficiently.

Requirements:

  1. Mental Health Experience: Possess extensive experience in mental health casework, including tribunal representation.
  2. S.117 Aftercare Knowledge: Have in-depth knowledge of s.117 aftercare.
  3. Collaborative Team Player: Be able to work independently and as part of a team.
  4. Process Development: Demonstrate ability to create and implement team-wide processes.
  5. Self-Supervision: Possess effective self-supervisory skills.

Desirable Qualities:

  1. Mental Capacity and Court of Protection Expertise: Have knowledge and experience in mental capacity and Court of Protection proceedings, including managing your own caseload.
  2. Supervising Team Members: Possess experience in supervising other team members.
  3. Professional Network: Have relevant professional contacts and the ability to attract your own cases.
  4. Training Delivery: Be able to write and deliver training on mental health and mental capacity law issues.

Location: This role can be based anywhere in the UK, with flexibility for remote work. Our client values diversity and offers a dynamic work environment.

Salary: £35,000 + dependent on experience. A competitive salary package will be offered to the successful candidate.
