About the Role

We are seeking a seasoned Underwriter to join our Head Office Underwriting Department as an Engineering Insurance Underwriter. This is an exciting opportunity to shape our engineering insurance strategy and contribute to the company's growth.

As an Underwriter, you will be responsible for recommending and developing the underwriting strategy for our Engineering Insurance offering. You will work closely with our Propositions department and other key stakeholders to set growth targets and define our risk appetite.

  • Develop and implement underwriting rules, processes, and communications to ensure effective execution of risk appetite and optimize sales channel performance.
  • Provide expert judgment on risk rates to ensure rates and rating logic are informed by deep insurance and market knowledge.
  • Analyze management information to identify opportunities for improving our underwriting strategy and meet current and new business requirements.

This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires a strong understanding of the Engineering Insurance market and excellent negotiation, influencing, and communication skills.

About You

We are looking for a professional with a wealth of Underwriting or Broker experience in Engineering Breakdown Insurance. You should have a background in a head office function, showcasing strategic thinking and effective project management delivery.

Key skills and qualifications include:

  • Strong knowledge of the Engineering Insurance market and excellent understanding of factors influencing its performance.
  • Negotiation skills, influencing abilities, and experience collaborating with stakeholders.
  • Effective communication style and ability to present information to different audiences.
  • High level of data literacy and ability to translate data into actionable insights.
