Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Commercial Underwriter to join our team at Arch Capital Group. As a key member of our underwriting team, you will be responsible for delivering exceptional service to our brokers, supporting the management of regional accounts, and driving business growth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and operate to Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to achieve regional GWP, income, and profit objectives.
  • Write new business, renewals, and mid-term adjustments of varying complexity, up to authority and binder limits.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with key directors and staff at top brokers to enhance Arch's standing and presence locally.
  • Contribute to business income and GWP objectives while working towards target loss ratios and rate targets.
  • Process survey requests, survey overviews, and policy documentation, maintaining relevant reporting tools.
  • Conduct regular case reviews to ensure technical procedures and standards are followed.
  • Support the personal development of underwriting staff in the branch by delivering technical guidance and skills.
  • Handle referral cases above the authority levels of underwriters, assistant underwriters, and development underwriters.
  • Contribute to the technical knowledge of the company by feeding back market intelligence to the regional director and wider team.
Requirements and Skills
  • At least 3 years' experience in Commercial Underwriting P&C and Motor Trade.
  • Proven broker account development and management.
  • Ability to negotiate flexibly and manage a profitable portfolio.
  • Effective selling skills and risk perception/risk selection skills.
  • Demonstrates a range of influencing and negotiation approaches.
  • Consistently achieving goals and objectives.
Qualifications and Experience

Minimum Cert CII. Dip CII, or progress towards, is preferred. The job holder will have at least 3 years Commercial Underwriting experience, strong interpersonal skills, and work in a structured, planned manner.
