Design Manager Job Description

Reddbrick are currently recruiting for a Design Manager to work with our Client in the East Midlands Region. Our Client is a UK building, infrastructure, engineering and fit out company with experience working across a range of sectors including Commercial, Residential, Healthcare and Education.

Job Role

The Design Manager will manage and coordinate the design of construction (non-civil) projects from tender stage right through to the completion of the construction stage design information and production of the operating and maintenance manuals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and coordinate the design of construction projects
  • Coordinate the design of construction projects from tender stage to completion
  • Manage the production of design information and operating manuals
  • Work with the project team to ensure design solutions meet client requirements
  • Develop and implement design solutions that meet client needs
Requirements
  • Experience of undertaking design management activities at both tender and construction stages
  • Experience of Education Projects
  • Experience of framework schemes as well as open market tenders via a combination of single stage, two stage and negotiated contracts
  • Good technical knowledge of architectural, structural, civil and building services design solutions
  • Ability to communicate with a range of people both verbally and in writing with a client and customer focus
  • Ability to plan, organise and project manage, working independently and in a team environment
  • Effective leadership skills, ideally with people management experience
  • Hold a construction based HNC (or equivalent level of technical knowledge)
  • Experience in using Microsoft packages e.g. Outlook, Excel, Word along with document management systems, Power-project, Team plan (or similar software)
  • Hold a valid driving licence and CSCS card
