Specialist SEN Teaching Assistant

We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Teaching Assistant to provide dedicated support for a young child in Reception with complex communication and sensory needs. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone with a strong background in SEN, particularly in language development and communication strategies such as Makaton and PECs.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide 1:1 support for a Reception child with significant communication and language difficulties (working at a developmental level of around 16 months);
* Use Makaton and PECs to facilitate communication and language development;
* Lead and implement a sensory diet and manage sensory issues to ensure the child's comfort and engagement;
* Assist with intimate care, including nappy changing;
* Employ positive handling techniques to support the child's emotional and physical well-being;
* Take initiative in leading the child's learning and development due to their complex needs.
Requirements:
* Extensive experience working with children with SEN, particularly in communication and language development;
* Experience providing intimate care;
* Ability to collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team to create a nurturing, supportive environment for the child.
About the Role:
This is a highly specialised role, and we are looking for someone with significant experience and initiative to support the child's complex needs and ensure their learning and development.
