Senior Healthcare Support Worker, Orthopaedic Department

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Senior Healthcare Support Worker to join our Orthopaedic team at Ashford and St. Peter's Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our Registered Nurses and Nursing Associates.
Key Responsibilities- Provide direct patient care, including meeting hygiene, continence, nutrition, and mobility needs.
- Take and record patients' vital signs, identifying and escalating changes to a patient's condition.
- Provide one-to-one observation for patients who present a high risk of harm and vulnerable patients.
- Undertake training and competencies related to the role, such as ECGs, venepuncture, and cannulation.
- Escort patients to different departments, such as x-ray.
- Keep the department and equipment clean, tidy, and restock equipment.
- Train and support new and junior team members.
We are looking for a candidate with:
- Functional level of English and Math.
- Care Certificate in Acute Care.
- Previous experience working as a healthcare support worker within the NHS for a minimum of six months.
- Working as part of a team.
- Effective communication skills.
- Required IT skills.
- Caring and compassionate nature.
- Empathy and understanding.
- Ability to provide excellent patient-centred care.
