## Job Title: Year 1 Teaching Assistant

## Job Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join our team at a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Kirkby. The successful candidate will support the teaching and learning of Year 1 pupils, helping to create a stimulating and positive environment that encourages growth and development in early education.

## Key Responsibilities:

* Support the class teacher in planning and delivering engaging and interactive lessons that align with the Key Stage 1 curriculum.
* Provide one-on-one or small group support to pupils, particularly in key areas such as literacy, numeracy, and phonics.
* Assist in the preparation of classroom resources and help to create a welcoming and stimulating learning environment.
* Support the social and emotional development of pupils by promoting positive behaviour and fostering a caring and inclusive classroom atmosphere.
* Assist in the assessment and tracking of pupil progress, providing feedback to the class teacher to inform future lesson planning.
* Support pupils with additional needs, including those with Special Educational Needs (SEN), to ensure every child reaches their full potential.
* Supervise children during break times, lunchtimes, and other school activities.
* Work collaboratively with the class teacher and other staff to contribute to the overall well-being and development of the pupils.

## Requirements:

* Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant, ideally within Key Stage 1 (KS1).
* A patient, nurturing, and enthusiastic approach to supporting young learners.
* Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with children, staff, and parents.
* A relevant Teaching Assistant qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 2/3) is desirable but not essential.
* An understanding of the Key Stage 1 curriculum, particularly in literacy and phonics.
* A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all pupils, in line with school policies.
