Early Years Education Assistant

A dynamic and inclusive primary school in Kirkby is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to support the teaching and learning of Year 1 pupils. This exciting role involves working closely with the class teacher to provide tailored support to young learners, promoting both academic progress and social well-being in line with the school's commitment to providing an engaging and nurturing education for all.
Key Responsibilities- Supporting the class teacher in planning and delivering engaging and interactive lessons that align with the Key Stage 1 curriculum.
- Providing one-on-one or small group support to pupils, particularly in key areas such as literacy, numeracy, and phonics.
- Assisting in the preparation of classroom resources and helping to create a welcoming and stimulating learning environment.
- Supporting the social and emotional development of pupils by promoting positive behaviour and fostering a caring and inclusive classroom atmosphere.
- Assisting in the assessment and tracking of pupil progress, providing feedback to the class teacher to inform future lesson planning.
- Supporting pupils with additional needs, including those with Special Educational Needs (SEN), to ensure every child reaches their full potential.
- Supervising children during break times, lunchtimes, and other school activities.
- Working collaboratively with the class teacher and other staff to contribute to the overall well-being and development of the pupils.
- Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant, ideally within Key Stage 1 (KS1).
- A patient, nurturing, and enthusiastic approach to supporting young learners.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with children, staff, and parents.
- A relevant Teaching Assistant qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 2/3) is desirable but not essential.
- An understanding of the Key Stage 1 curriculum, particularly in literacy and phonics.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all pupils, in line with school policies.
