Job Title: Audio Visual Technician

The National Gallery is seeking a skilled Audio Visual Technician to join their team. As an AV Technician, you will be responsible for setting up and maintaining audio-visual equipment for events and exhibitions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Install, test, and maintain audio-visual equipment, including projectors, screens, and sound systems.
  • Provide technical support for events and exhibitions, ensuring that all equipment is functioning properly.
  • Collaborate with the events team to plan and execute events, including setting up and testing audio-visual equipment.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues and resolve problems in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of new technologies and equipment to stay up-to-date with industry standards.
Requirements:
  • Level 4 qualification (HNC) or above in a relevant subject, such as Audio Visual, Creative Media Production, or a related field.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of visual display systems, including LCD panels, projectors, and signal distribution.
  • Working knowledge of virtual production systems, including camera tracking.
  • Proficient in PC and Mac OS platforms, with the ability to troubleshoot.
  • Experience of working in an event AV environment.
  • Ability to explain complex AV terms to a variety of stakeholders.
  • Awareness of logistical and practical issues of working in a gallery or museum.
  • Collaborative working skills, with the ability to work as part of a team.
  • Effective multitasking and problem-solving skills.
Working Conditions:

This is a full-time role, with a typical working pattern of 5 days out of 7. The post holder may be required to work flexibly to cover evening and weekend events. Setting up and installing AV equipment can involve lifting heavy items and working at height, using access towers or powered access lifts.
