We are seeking a highly skilled Technical Specialist to join our Modelling and Simulation Team at the Manufacturing Technology Centre in Coventry.

As a Technical Specialist, you will be responsible for leading and delivering technical excellence across a portfolio of projects, providing thought leadership on the delivery of innovative technical solutions in maturing, promising research ideas into impactful manufacturing capability.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Lead and deliver technical excellence across a portfolio of projects.
  2. Provide thought leadership on the delivery of innovative technical solutions.
  3. Play a leadership role in the delivery of innovative project outputs.
  4. Lead the Technology and Industrial Sectors' awareness of existing capabilities and emerging technologies.
  5. Contribute to technical and business strategies by developing specific technical and multi-theme roadmaps.
  6. Lead and develop collaborative research and development funding opportunities and create winning proposals.
  7. Ensure that colleagues receive appropriate technical guidance and governance in project delivery.
  8. Mentor and coach colleagues in an empathetic manner.
  9. Provide technical governance for all aspects of MTC's proposal and project delivery processes.

Requirements:

  1. Degree-calibre engineer, technologist, scientist, or mathematician.
  2. Strong logical reasoning, abstraction, and analytical skills.
  3. At least 5 years of experience in management, including setting and reviewing objectives, managing performance, and developing others through coaching and mentoring.
  4. At least 7 years of industrial experience leading simulation, modelling, and analytical studies.
  5. In-depth understanding of challenges in adopting digital technologies in modelling and simulation.
  6. Expertise in technologies contributing to Digital Engineering's strategic vision.
  7. Focused solution/application development for industrial end users.
  8. Collaborative R&D bid development, including ideas creation and bid writing.
  9. Providing Modelling and Simulation technical training.
  10. Leading and managing small teams of engineers.
  11. Strong understanding of Digital Engineering technologies and their manufacturing applications.
  12. Demonstrable commercial skills and acumen.
  13. Proven ability to think, plan, and execute strategically.

Desirable Skills:

  1. Demonstrable evidence of technical leadership on projects.
  2. Knowledge of one or more industrial sectors and manufacturing systems.
  3. Knowledge in reduced order modelling applications in industrial settings.
  4. Knowledge of multiscale and multi-physics solutions in HPC.
  5. Understanding of Lean and Six Sigma.
  6. Application of general analysis methodology and Verification, Validation, and Uncertainty Quantification frameworks.
  7. Proven ability in project and time management.
