Optometry Role at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust

We are seeking a motivated and skilled optometrist to join our team at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. This two-year fixed-term contract provides an exciting opportunity for hospital pre-registration optometrists to gain experience in core optometric roles, develop their skills, and progress to more enhanced roles within the acute sector.

About the Role

This position involves delivering high-quality optometric services to patients at our state-of-the-art eye department at St. James's University Hospital. You will work alongside our experienced team of optometrists, specialist optometrists, and advanced specialist optometrists to provide comprehensive care to our patients.

The role offers a unique blend of clinical and administrative responsibilities, with opportunities to develop your skills in low vision aids, contact lens fitting, and medical retina. You will also have access to ongoing training and development opportunities to enhance your career prospects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver core optometric services to patients, including refraction, contact lens fitting, and low vision aid assessment and dispensing
  • Develop skills in enhanced clinics, including glaucoma, corneal, and medical retina
  • Contribute to the administration of the optometry department, including delegated responsibilities as determined by senior colleagues
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A BSc (Hons) degree in Optometry
  • GOC full registration
  • Previous hospital pre-registration optometrist experience
